We have recently launched the Business cards on the Web website and this is little peek into our world at blue stag studio and how we came to produce this website.
Who are Business cards on the Web?
Business Cards on the Web is the home of printing related information. If you are looking for help on business cards, logo design, web design or in fact any print-related enquiry then Business Cards on the Web is the place to find it. Its aim is to answer the most common questions that crop up and help guide people through the world of print and design.
What we did
It pays to plan ahead. We needed plan all aspects of the website before any paint touched the canvas. With a brief in one hand, a cup of coffee and Jamie dodger in the other we set out to brainstorm the website.
Articles
The article feature meant that Business Cards on the Web would have to be able to manage the websites content as well as add, remove and modify articles. The search feature meant that anybody can search for articles and get help and advice on their printing and design needs.
Directory
We designed and developed a directory feature for the website that would allow companies to submit their business and to promote them. Visitors who were looking for a particular printing service could then search the directory and find the company that would meet their needs best. With the rating and review feature, visitors would be able to find out are the most reliable and popular suppliers to use.
Ask a Question
It is sometimes difficult to find an answer to a specific question that we have and it was important to Business Cards on the Web that they could assist the visitors to the website in every way they can. ‘Ask a question' meant that anybody with a query could get in contact and have their question answered by a professional.
Content Management System (CMS)
In order for Business Cards on the Web to manage all of the content on the website, answer questions, add and modify articles and monitor article comments the website needed to have a Content Management System. We tailored our CMS to meet the needs of Business Cards on the Web so that they would have complete control over their website.
The CMS would alert Business Cards on the Web whenever a business had listed themselves within the directory, when somebody leave a review on one of these businesses and even when a comment has been left on an artcile.
Design
When we were approached by Business Cards on the Web we were asked to design and develop a feature rich website that will act as a directory for print related businesses and as an information resource to anybody seeking advice.
The design of the website had to be modern, businesslike and because the site would feature a number of articles and information, it had to be easy to read and navigate.
The web design brief encapsulated the need for a website that was powerful technically and aesthetically. We produced Business Cards on the web a modern and structured design and with their feedback designed a website that brought together what we set out to achieve.
