Alpha and Omega College (Cardiff)

The Web Design Brief

Alpha and Omega is an education establishment located within the heart of Cardiff, South Wales.

When we sat down and went through a web design brief with Alpha and Omega College we talked about the need for a professional web design that would be easy to navigate. For this project good usability was that much more important because the target audience were not just from the United Kingdom, but from all over the world.

The college wanted a clean and certified web design that would also showcase what Cardiff and South Wales has to offer. The website needed to have a strong synergy between both professionalism and design.

What we did

Before any paint touched the canvas and before we thought about design, we set out to research what would be needed from a college website to make it user-friendly and enable potential visitors to find what course they wanted as quickly as possible.

User Journeys enabled us to plan the number of routes that users could take to find a course and also enrol on one. Research into this allowed us to come aware of any issues that may arise and also how we could better the user experience for visitors to the website.

The design of the website was influenced by the college logo as well as other marketing material so that everything could be kept consistent. The design was clean to make it easily readable as we had to take into account that there would be a number of users not fully fluent in English.

With the use of Adobe Flash we put together a transitional slideshow that fed through images of Cardiff and the College to give any visitors a taste of what the school, Cardiff and South Wales would have to offer.
